A self-initiated demonstration showing how luxury hospitality website copy can be adapted into natural, guest-facing Traditional Chinese for the Taiwan market.
Context
A self-initiated demonstration showing how English luxury-hospitality website copy can be localized for prospective guests in Taiwan.
My role
English-to-Traditional Chinese localization, transcreation and terminology review.
Communication challenge
Retain an understated premium tone while replacing literal phrasing with language that feels natural, inviting and commercially clear to Taiwan readers.
Approach
Identified the promise behind the source copy, adjusted sentence order for Traditional Chinese reading flow, and chose guest-facing vocabulary used naturally in Taiwan hospitality communications.
Deliverable
A concise English-to-Traditional Chinese website copy demonstration with rationale and terminology notes.
Publication context
Self-initiated demonstration created to illustrate JCLO’s localization approach; it is not client work or a published hotel campaign.
Value delivered
Shows how a literal translation can be reshaped into polished guest-facing copy while preserving the source message and premium positioning.
Localization demonstration
Source copy
Wake to quiet views across the city, then make the day entirely your own. Our attentive team is always close at hand, from a considered breakfast to a late return.
Final Traditional Chinese copy
晨光映照城市景致,從容展開專屬於您的旅程。無論是精心準備的早餐,或夜歸時分的貼心接待,我們始終適時相伴。
Literal translation risk
A word-for-word version would make “make the day entirely your own” sound abstract and could render “close at hand” too literally, weakening the calm, attentive service promise.
Terminology decisions
「從容展開」creates an unhurried arrival mood;「專屬於您的旅程」turns an English idiom into a natural guest benefit;「適時相伴」signals discreet service without implying intrusive attention.
